once upon a time,
the real Auntie Oti
had a nephew named Ed.
Ed worked as a mechanic,
but was always a farmer at heart.
when Ed retired,
he expanded his garden,
and began to sell the
vegetables and flowers
he grew in it.
during this time,
his daughter in law brought him
a few tuber rose bulbs from her native home in India.
they grew and multiplied until
he had a field full of them, which he sold
to flower shops nearby.
after many years,
Ed slowly got out of
the flower business,
selling off his many thousands
of tuber rose bulbs
of tuber rose bulbs
to other farmers.
but before they were all gone,
he sent a handful of the bulbs
to his youngest daughter
who had only a very small city garden.
and today tuber roses bloom

Auntie Oti blankets

partners Ravi Kiran and Chandrashekar
have a deep dedication to hand-spun hand-woven fabrics,
traveling extensively throughout southern India
finding khadi societies with which to collaborate.
Auntie Oti is eternally grateful to be a small part of their world and their vision
last day with the metaphor racha design team.
Ravi Kirin and Chandrashekar have dedicated themselves to merging modern design
with traditional indian textiles, working exclusively in khadi.
for spring 13 the three of us have designed
a new range of clothing and accessories for Auntie Oti.
we started our day with idilis at the New Modern Hotel
then went to the studio where i took photos of these silk clamp dyed fabrics
from the metaphor studio line designed by Chandrashekar:
and picked up for myself :
